Ladozhskaya

There are discrepancies in the origin of the station name. What is indisputable is that all Ladoga toponyms in the area are dedicated to the Road of Life that passed through Lake Ladoga during the Siege of Leningrad. Some sources say that during the design, the station was named after Ladoga Avenue, where it is located (renamed Kosygin Avenue in 1982 - i.e. before the station opened). Other sources say that the station is named after the future Ladoga railway station, already envisaged on the general plan of the city at that time, but actually built only 18 years later. The latest version is more like the truth, since the future exits to the railway station were originally laid in the station lobby.

During the life of the station, the lighting on it changed three times: from the original white to the ugly yellow sodium (2006) and, during the overhaul of 2023-2024, again to white LED. Therefore, photos taken in different years have different backlight colors.

In fact, the Road of Life did not pass through the vicinity of the station. But the entire design of the station is dedicated to her. The platform is illuminated by two rows of floor lamps, which, according to one point of view, are associated with candles or crosses in the cemetery in memory of those who died on the Road of Life, and on the other - with way posts on it.

Let's take a closer look around the floor lamp and look inside.

In fact, it looks very beautiful and concise.

Interestingly, before the overhaul, the floor lamps were disfigured by video cameras, which completely broke the image of the station. But, fortunately, common sense prevailed over reason, and the cameras were removed. Also, before the overhaul, there were telephone half-booths in the middle of the platform. I wonder if anyone else uses wired phones?

Now, without cameras and half-wakes, it's much better.

The end of the station hall is decorated with a commemorative inscription of the Road of Life with its own white backlight.

Initially, it was supposed to place a marble composition "Hummocks of Ladoga ice" at the end of the station hall. But something went wrong, and only the inscription was made.

There are four escalators at the opposite end of the hall. The hermetic door, as usual in such cases, is vertical of the "guillotine" type.

Let's go upstairs.

The lobby is spacious and decorated quite beautifully. It was originally designed to interface with the future Ladoga railway Station, so when the station was built, the exits to it from the metro were opened immediately.

According to the original idea, the lobby was supposed to occupy the center of the station between the gates of the passenger tunnels leading to the railway platforms, and become the total volume of the future large building. But something went wrong.

The chandelier in the lobby is wonderful.

The middle photo is just the exit from the subway to the train station.

View of the lobby from the outside. He's wide, damn it, and he doesn't fit well into the frame.

Let's go back down. Interestingly, the pattern of the wall above the escalator before and after the renovation is completely different. Before the repair:

After the repair:

So, down. Back underground.

The doors in the track walls and the name of the station are in the same place.

Information boards with a metro map at the station are already electronic. Obviously, it's cheaper this way. But the benches are quite ordinary. Striped.

In the distant bright future, the station should become an interchange station on the Ring Line, and the transition will be built in the center of the hall.

Major repairs at the station took place from March 4, 2023 to January 30, 2024.

In general, it is very pretty :)
