The station is designed as an interchange station Obvodny kanal and the bus station of Saint-Petersburg. Even Cthulhu is not able to predict the exact horizon of the station's opening right now.

The design of the station is supposed to be quite complex and modern. It is not entirely clear whether it will be possible to fully implement it in reality.

The name "Karetnaya" is associated with the location near the Karetny Bridge over the Bypass Canal. The bridge, in turn, is named after the Carriage Part - the historical district of Saint-Petersburg in the 19th century.
